Video Experience

A lot of people feel a lot more comfortable when they know the process of something unfamiliar. But how much info is too much or too little? Hard to know, everyone’s so different. So we split the difference and are sharing it two ways. For the bullet-point folks - here’s a quick summary. For the gotta-know-details folks - read below!

Summary:

  • Online Consultation (are we the right fit for you?)

  • 90-Minute In-Home Production Meeting (it’s all open for discussion + a follow-up meeting if necessary)

  • Shoot Date & Session Length (the standard offer is one hour in length, your mileage may vary)

  • Edit Review #1 (50% of total amount due prior to review)

  • Edit Review #2

  • Delivery (remainder due prior to delivery)

Complimentary Online 15-Minute Consultation

Whether you’re inquiring for a photoshoot, video or both - by filling our initial inquiry form, we’ll receive all the info we need to call you back and setup a time to meet online or over the phone and talk a bit further to help answer any initial questions you may have.  Since we have lots of Video options and for sake of clarity, we’re going to use our Family Stories experience to walk you through the process. To Learn More About our Photography Process, please go here.

Why online?

Regardless of wherever we may be, this is the easiest way for you to find out more and for us to meet you. The true goal is to meet in person, but sometimes life, schedules, L.A. traffic or geography get in the way, so we’ve found it’s best to start here.  This could be with Zoom or a FaceTime Call.  Let us know which one you prefer!

Can we do our initial conversation on the same day we reach out?

If we can - absolutely, yes.  Once our client sessions are completed, we will happily reply to any emails, text messages or phone calls within normal business hours, but please give us 24 hours to reply.

What will we cover in this meeting?

This is your time to ask us all the hard questions, but we always shoot with the end goal in mind so the most common discussion topics are more creative in nature by chatting about your initial concept and project details. Based on that initial info we’ll be able to provide you a ballpark estimate.

Where do you record these sessions?

That totally depends upon the need, but 99% of the time for us it’s on-location, with you and in the comfort of your own home.

After our initial chat… if you’re still interested and want to move forward - we’ll end our call with

  • scheduling a date & time for your in-home production meeting

and send you the following:

  • invoice for our initial session fee (covers our time spent for production meetings, prep & your session day)

  • questionnaire to help you fill in some of the necessary information ahead of time

IMPORTANT: The Session Fee must be paid at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled In-Home Consultation.

90-Minute In-Home Consultation

Depending upon which video service you need (or where you are located), the next step would be an in-home visit or a more in-depth online session (or a combination of the two).  Because we do offer a variety of Video services, we’ll explain our process by focusing on Family Stories.

What Will We Discuss in This Meeting?

This is the beginning of our Production Meeting process with a bit of Consultation (wardrobe, etc) added in to complete our first conversation.  We’ll lay out the particulars and figure out the following ‘things’ with you! Depending upon your event, we really should also give a think about capturing these moments with still images too.

Session Date, Time and Location

You may already have a particular place in your home picked out, but we recommend you choose at least three spots so we can review the pros and cons of each with you and settle on one. Things to consider:

  • What kind of feeling do you want to give? stately? casual? a bit of in-between?

  • Do you like light & bright OR dark & moody?

Family Members

  • How many will be involved, what are their names and ages?

  • Are there specific topics you would like to cover?  We’ll help build you a personalized questionnaire.

  • Who will be our “Director?”  This may be your interviewer, but it’s your self-elected (financially responsible) family member who gets to say “Final” on the edit.

Assets

Do you have photos or existing family videos you want us to incorporate into the final product?

  • We’ll need the digital files (or prints) to be provided at this time.

  • If you don’t have digital files of your desired prints, as an à la carte item we’ll get them scanned for you

    • or we can recommend places and the tech specs of how to ask for them to be scanned at their highest resolution.

  • Also, if you have beloved older photos that are showing their age, we can review them for potential restoration work as an à la carte item.

The Style of the Session

This is where we all discuss and make final decisions on how you want your day to look.

  • Your Location and Furniture

    • how do you want this to feel? stately, casual, a bit of both?

  • Cameras & Lighting

    • We shoot with two cameras and one very big, soft light

    • We keep the hardware footprint to a minimum

  • Wardrobe.

    • we will help style your day

  • Hair and Makeup

    • be camera ready for the session

Contract and Payment Schedules

Within 24 hours after meeting, we’ll send you a contract along with a payment schedule and an itemized invoice

IMPORTANT: All the Person(s) who make the Financial Decisions MUST BE PRESENT.

Session Day

Your day is our day.  But what does that look and feel like?

The Day Before

  • Get plenty of rest the night before and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!  (gives your skin a refreshed look)

  • Make sure your wardrobe is camera ready

Session Day: 4 Hours

  • We’ll arrive at your home 90 minutes prior to your session to get the agreed upon location shoot-ready

  • Unless otherwise specified during our Production Meetings, the duration of the recording session is one-hour

  • We’ll remove all of our gear and return your room to it’s original state

Congratulations! The Hard Part is Done!

What’s Next?

Schedules depending, our goal is to end our day with setting a Date and Time for your First Look review of the edit within two weeks.

First Look

Come on over to our office, have a coffee (or some other beverage) and get a First Look at what we’ve assembled for you.  Be a Director for a Day and help us tweak your vision into reality.  Addressing your notes and scheduling the date of your Final Review depends upon the complexity of your requests.  Plan to spend about two or three hours with us at this meeting.

50% of the total investment amount remaining is due prior to session review.

Final Review

Your last visit with us!

We’ll review the edit one last time with all the notes addressed. If there are additional changes, we can address these once the complexity has been identified and the price associated with the work (plus schedule a third and final review).

If no other changes and you say “FINAL!” we are now working on your Delivery! Congratulations, Director!

Delivery

We’ll send you an invoice for the remainder of the payment.  Once payment has been made, we’ll send you the Digital File via WeTransfer or some other agreed upon digital mechanism within 24 hours.

If we also provided a Portrait Session as part of your Family Stories experience…

  • Social Media friendly-sized digital files are included of any new images printed as fine art for your home

  • Hi-Rez digital files will be provided for any existing family images we may have restored as part of this process

Materials and the Final Edit will be archived for one-year from the date of delivery.
